Praying Together

St. Faith's and the New Testament Church of God are geographically very close - one being at the Walsworth Crossroads and the other at the corner of Hampden Road. However, over the past year we have become spiritually close, with the holding of monthly prayer meetings on the 1st Wednesday in the month, alternating between the two places of worship.

Rev. Charmaine Sabey-Corkindale and Rev. Nigel Williams share leading these meetings.

Those of us attending come from very different traditions but we have all grown in faith and understanding of each other. Some of us pray in silence and others out loud spontaneously. We pray for whatever is in our hearts or on our minds - be it ourselves, the local community or the wider world. Our prayers are interspersed with hymns and songs, often repeated and sung unaccompanied. Some of us have rediscovered that hymns are a very powerful means of prayer as we sing the words.

It has been a privilege to be part of these Prayer Meetings and a joy to make friends with our neighbours from the New Testament Church of God. You may like to consider joining us one month to share an hour of prayerful worship.
