Ceilidh at St Faith's - June 2010
The 8th of June saw the return of folk band Spinndrift to St Faith’s, but this time to provide music and direction for a Ceilidh.

The band was missing it’s usual caller, Isla Hughes, because of work commitments, but the post was more than adequately filled by guest caller Paul Vinten-Knox. The evening was divided into two halves with a break for supper and a raffle (the opportunity should never be missed).

Members of the band had to join in occasionally to demonstrate the correct way to dance. The music was wide ranging with the usual English, Scottish and Irish tunes and dances intermingled with Scandinavian and French tunes.

A very enjoyable evening ensued, with everyone taking part in the dancing, in some cases with great enthusiasm.
The layout of the church is ideal for such an occasion, with the large area between the pillars for dancing and the areas between the pillars and the walls used for tables and seating for those more reluctant to indulge in Terpsichorean activities. About seventy people attended, which was perhaps the perfect number for the area available; any more and there would have been a distinct possibility of accidents.

The band was joined by Isla the next day and went on to perform at the Letchworth & Baldock Folk Club.
