St Faith's Valentine's Day Service 14th February 2010

Celebrating Valentine’s Day at St. Faith’s

The family service took a slightly different form on the morning of February 14th at St. Faith’s when our service was very much centred upon the theme of Love.  The service commenced with the unveiling and blessing of the new Community Notice Board and councillors, Ray Shakespeare Smith and Alan Millard cut the ribbon in a brief ceremony.
The service continued with special musical items; Betty and Arthur Harris sang “I remember it well” and Philip Mitchell sang “Love Changes Everything” accompanied on the keyboard by Rose Norris. The choir anthem was “Can you feel the Love tonight” and the reading from Corinthians was the favourite one about love, often read at weddings.
We were pleased to have the uniformed groups in attendance and Charmaine in her talk pointed out all the different kinds of love there are (as well as the romantic boy/girl love which is particularly celebrated on Valentine’s Day) not least our love for Jesus Christ and his love for us.  In their prayers the teenagers told us something of the origins of Valentine’s Day.  Before the service the children were invited to take part in the making of special biscuits and cards to take home.
As we left to go home people could be heard remarking what a refreshing change the service had been and thanks go to all who worked to make it a special day for everyone present.
