| St Faith's Trip to Amsterdam, 2009 |
| 26
intrepid travellers from St Faith's, St Mark's and St Mary's caught the
6am flight to Amsterdam on Friday 21st August to enjoy 3 full days
getting to know this most interesting and stimulating City.
The early flight enabled us to be ready in Amsterdam to start our
adventures at 9 am local time. The hotel Park Plaza near
Vondalpark looked after our luggage for the day and we set off
investigating the various attractions. A gentle stroll with a coffee stop in Vondalpark was the first stop for many. We all set out to pursue our own programme of visits to museums, canal trips, visits to churches and other places of historic interest, including the Botanic gardens. We made extensive use of the Tram service and we were fortunate that the No.2 stopped very near to the hotel and took us right into the Central Station area and close by to lots of the place of interest. We found some excellent eating and drinking establishments to satisfy our inner man. Everyone got on very well together although there were three generations present and it was a happy and friendly gathering. The three days went all too quickly and we were soon assembling to be taken back to the airport for the 10pm flight back to Luton. The photograph was taken at the entrance to the hotel by the coach driver. It was a happy and memorable weekend as shown by the smiles on the faces in the picture. Our thanks go to Charmaine and Carolyn Kisby for the efficient organisation of the trip. ![]() |
