The purpose of Scouting is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. The 16th Hitchin Scout Group comprises three sections, each of which meets every Friday evening during term time at Highover JMI School on Cambridge Road: Beavers (aged 6-8); Cubs (aged 8-10); and Scouts (aged 10-14). Young people aged between 14 and 18 can join Explorer Scouts for which there are two units in Hitchin. Each section takes part in a
range of activities
appropriate to the age group. Amongst other activities,
Beavers
participate in arts and crafts, play games and go on visits to
museums and
zoos. Cubs do these activities and also begin to experience
the outdoors
by going on walks and perhaps an annual camp. Scouts meet
outdoors as
much as possible and spend much time hiking, on bike rides and
camping.
All sections learn key skills associated with the outdoors. For further information please visit our website.
